The Washington, DC office of SmithGroupJJR is looking for a Project Architect with a focus on government clients and projects to join our team.
Working with us, you will:
Prepare original architectural plans, diagrams, and data visualization.
Perform design assignments under general supervision.
Find technical solutions to deliver the design through documentation and detailing while preserving the design intent.
Create and develop planning and design concepts for small projects or support more senior planners and architects on large projects.
Coordinate digital documentation models with models from other disciplines.
Consults with manufacturers and research proposed materials and products.
Assist in writing specifications.
Participate in construction administration including responding to RFI’s, preparing sketches, issuing addendums, visiting the construction site to gather information, preparing punch lists, and responding to contractor questions.
An ideal candidate has:
8-15 years of architectural experience
Architectural registration and LEED AP or LEED AP BD+C accreditation.
On-the-job experience using Revit to produce construction documents.
Active government security clearance
High proficiency with Revit, Sketch-up, Photoshop and In-Design programs.
Strong analytical and conceptual skills and ability to grasp complex functional program requirements.
Strong background in design.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
The ability to work well in a team environment with a collaborative and professional work ethic.
The ability to travel independently, globally.
SmithGroupJJR offers competitive compensation and an excellent benefit package, including 401(k) and continuing educational reimbursement. We offer 3 weeks of paid time off within the first year of employment, with the option of purchasing additional time off, and pay for 8 federal holidays. We also offer an alternative work schedule that provides employees with an additional 15 days off per year (usually Fridays) to help with work/life balance.
