The Washington DC office of Leo A Daly is seeking an experienced Director of Business Development whose responsibilities revolve around coordinating business development efforts in all the LEO A DALY Washington DC primary market sectors: Corporate and Commercial, Public/Institutional including Federal as well as our secondary market sectors: Higher Education and Aviation. Overall, the position is responsible for winning work by managing the business development team while identifying opportunities, developing relationships, creating capture strategies, executing strategies, and closing work.
The preferred candidate shall have in-depth knowledge and experience with private and public development decision makers in the Washington DC area including Maryland and Virginia, and strong team building and execution skills.
Director of Business Development will establish, implement, and maintain the business development short and long range plans and budget for the office. Candidate is responsible for driving results to exceed new business contracted goals by overseeing public relations activities and successfully managing a team of business development representatives and market sector leaders. Candidate must promote and establish collaboration and individual leadership within the team to identify, acquire, and retain new and current clientele and strategic partners. Candidate must continually evaluate the team's strategies and effectiveness in capture planning and winning work and implement process improvements based on evidence, observations, trends, and client feedback. Position requires candidate to initiate and maintain extensive contacts with key clientele and industry representatives, organizations, and companies in the market sectors serviced by the LEO A DALY Washington, DC office.
Candidate reports to the Managing Principal and will assist the Managing Principal, Director of Operations, Director of Marketing, and Project Managers in identifying personnel needs for pursuit teams, evaluating scope and scheduling requirements of opportunities, and transitioning opportunities from pursuits to contracted work.
Professional expertise demonstrated through 10+ years of proven ability to drive results meeting revenue and profitability goals through successful lead generation/follow through, customer relations, pursuit development, and client management in the A/E/C industry.
Ability to build extensive and reputable relations with clients, strategic partners and community members within the Washington, DC metro area and throughout the States of Maryland and Virginia.
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Architecture or Engineering from an accredited college or university required. Master's Degree is a plus.
Experience in master planning, economic development, feasibility studies, programming, cost/benefit analyses, cost estimating, design, and project management is a plus.
Experience with Deltek Vision CRM is a plus.
Exceptional self-motivation, customer service orientation, communication, writing, and presentation skills.
Strong leadership, mentoring, problem solving, negotiation, and decision making skills.
Excellent time management and organization skills with the ability to become involved in and remain current on, issues relating to a number of concurrent opportunities in various stages.
Active leader and member of varied professional and community organizations. (BOMA, IFMA, AIA, DBIA, SMPS, SAME, etc.)
