cox graae + spack architects is seeking a driven, dedicated and talented individual with design / technical skills and construction administration experience to work in a collaborative studio environment on an exciting project.
The firm is in the construction document phase of a new $180,000,000, 390,000 sf STEAM and Visual and Performing Arts High School for 2,000 students on a 44 acre site with extensive outdoor athletic facilites. The project is slated to begin construction in late spring 2022 and will proceed through three, consecutive phases. Completion is projected for the summer of 2026. The selected candiate will assist in the completion of the construction documents and specifications and then transition to the lead role in the construction administration phase.
The successful candidate must hold an architecture degree (from an accredited US institution of higher learning) and have 5-10 years experience working in a US architect’s office. BIM experience is required. The candidate will work in a highly collaborative environment where creativity combines with sound design principles and technical execution to create projects that meet both the vision and the functional needs of our clients.
Other current projects include campus master planning, a range of public and private K-12 and higher education, new and adaptive reuse, churches, park and recreation centers and libraries among others. Construction values range from several hundred thousand dollars to over one hundred million dollars.
Serve as liaison between Architect/Engineer team(s) and Owner/Construction Manager At Risk (CMAR).
Provide design and construction coordination with the architectural project team.
Conduct regular design reviews, updates, coordination, value engineering, constructability, shop drawing revisions, ASIs, PRs, RFIs and change orders.
Manage A/E schedule and milestone dates and keep PIC apprised of progress and escalate issues appropriately.
Travel to project site as required to perform construction administration responsibilities. Visit job site as required to review progress and facilitate construction by coordinating RFIs, ASIs and other information requests, payment applications and contractor requests.
Coordinate with the CMAR’s field Project Manager regarding drawing progress, reports, RFIs, ASIs, PRs owner concerns, schedule, and concerns of field team.
Establish work requirements according to established schedules for design and construction.
Maintain an up-to-date filing system and logging/tracking of all work issues.
Review project costing of design budget and coordinate with PIC.
During design phase process, review drawings, as a QA/QC check, for coordination or review of specifications.
Implement policies and procedures and provide assistance as required.
Attend networking functions and assist Team Leaders in acquiring new business.
Perform additional assignments per supervisor’s direction.
Ability to communicate effectively both in written format and oral presentation.
Ability to multi-task and establish priorities.
Ability to maintain organization in a changing environment.
Exhibits initiative, responsibility, flexibility and leadership.
Possess a working knowledge of construction industry and how buildings are put together.
Familiarity with AIA documents.
Possess a thorough knowledge of contract administration and office procedures.
Ability to use extensive working knowledge of all paperwork procedures necessary to complete the documents necessary for architectural contracts.
Ability to use working knowledge of all consultant work and maintain basics of most building systems.
Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel required; knowledge of typical Contractor project management software: Microsoft Projects, Primavera, Procore, etc.
Bachelor or Masters Degree in Architecture from an accredited U. S. college or university required.
Minimum 5 years on-site field experience overseeing projects under construction as an Architect/Construction Administrator.
Telecommuting is allowed.
