DLR Group's Architecture team has openings for Project Architects in the K-12 public and independent schools’ practice.

As a Project Architect at DLR Group, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of design and construction documents, and for coordinating with other DLR Group and outside consultant team members to maintain a high quality of design and construction documents on small to large and complex school projects. You will also be responsible for managing the bidding and construction phases of your projects. As a key member of one of our integrated, high performance design teams, you will create schools that directly increase student and teacher engagement. Your work will impact student outcomes and increase student achievement.

Position Summary:
You will partner directly with a Project Manager through all phases of a project to ensure the quality of the design, the quality of the construction documents, effective team collaboration and communication, the financial health of the project, and that there are no claims. Additionally, you will lead multi-disciplinary design teams to achieve cost-effective, high performance technical solutions.
The successful candidate will:
- Have a comprehensive understanding of the various design disciplines and the ability to coordinate and lead them in developing technical solutions.
- Provide positive and constructive mentorship and support to other team members.
- Have extensive knowledge of all aspects of professional practice from master planning and concept design through project close-out.
- Be proficient in writing technical specifications.
- Be able to work and present ideas in a team environment, as well as manage and motivate yourself in a highly creative environment.
- Possess a high level of technical proficiency in the production of construction documents.
- Have strong design aptitude, outstanding organizational and communication skills, and the ability to collaborate with others effectively.
- Lead your project teams in adhering to all practice standards.
- Supervise the design and technical development of your projects.
- Collaborate directly with Project Managers and Designers to provide complete design support from conceptual design through construction documents.
- Participate in and facilitate client meetings, clearly communicate project status, and build lasting client relationships.
- Lead client meetings and presentations.
Required Qualifications:
- Five (5) or more years of experience as a Project Architect.
- Experience in leading small to large and complex projects through all phases of design and construction.
- K-12 education project experience.
- Bachelor and/or Master of Architecture degree from an accredited program.
- Proficiency in the use of REVIT and CAD computer modeling and rendering software.
- Ability to travel occasionally to support project tasks.
- Technical experience in leading construction administration efforts.
- Knowledge of applicable construction codes.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional License/Registered Architect in Washington DC, Maryland, Virginia, New York, New Jersey, or Connecticut strongly preferred.
- LEED, WELL Accreditation.
- Experience in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch-Up, and other design software.
